NJ DWI and Probation

A conviction for Driving While Intoxicated in New Jersey comes with many penalties.  Suspension of NJ driving privilege; fines; court costs; NJMVC surcharges; suspension of NJ vehicle registration; community service; jail; ignition interlock device; time at the Intoxicated Driver Resource Center [“IDRC”]; and fees.

There is no probation sentence attached to a NJ DWI conviction.  New Jersey DUI matters are traffic offenses and never carry a probationary term after conviction irrespective of the defendant’s prior offenses.
